Enrichment

For many children, the school day doesn’t end when the last bell rings. There’s still lots of learning to be done and fun to be had. Taught by Montgomery specialists, who already know your children well, after school enrichment programs build on each student’s daily experience to inspire mind, body, and character.

The Crafty Chef Academy is excited to bring you crafty and creatively satisfying fun with food!  We call it “edible art”. The Crafty Chef Academy is known for “over-the-top” classes that build skills that will last a lifetime! In addition to fun, your little chef will use food as the platform to apply their growing knowledge of science, math, language, art, and more. Did we say cooking helps to boost confidence, too!!! Chefs will finish the series having learned about nutritionally-balanced meals and how to put together the various food groups in a way that is delicious and visually captivating. Each session will be full of cooking up life skills and friendships one meal at a time. We hope you will join us on our mission to craft, cook, and create.

Mindfulness with Lisa Halpin P'27
February 2, 9, 16, 23 ($150)
Grades 3-5

Studies find that learning mindfulness benefits students in terms of improved attention, emotion regulation, behavior in school, empathy and understanding of others, social skills, test anxiety, and stress. Mindfulness allows for a pause during which thoughtful responses can replace impulsive reactions.

Some examples of how we will use mindfulness in this program are noticing and naming our feelings during specific exercises, using mindfulness of breathing to calm anxiety and improve focus, or pausing when feeling frustrated or impatient. Each class will also have a heartfulness exercise which will help promote empathy and compassion for others.
