Adolescent and Teen Wellness: A Mind Body Approach for Your Family

Parents joined Tessa Jenkins, RN, BSN, RYT500, Certified Health Coach and parent of Sloan '26, for a special session about teen wellness. Often when we hear about health and wellness, nutrition and exercise are at the forefront of the conversation. While they are important factors, there is so much more to what makes people feel good in their bodies, especially with children and young adults. As a former nurse and health coach, Tessa works with groups and individuals to examine a whole body wellness approach. This moves beyond diet and exercise and examines sleep habits, stress levels, social interactions and so much more. When all of these factors are in better balance, people feel healthier and happier in their daily routines.

Meet the Speaker

Tessa Jenkins

Tessa's career started as a nurse in the ICU at Abington Hospital and, after a few years, she transitioned to a clinical research leader in the pharmaceutical industry.  After several years running large phase drug trials in oncology, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, Tessa took some time off to be with her daughters.  

While she stepped away from her corporate life, Tessa focused on fitness, nutrition and yoga to help herself gain energy and feel stronger.  Eventually she became certified as an advanced yoga teacher, meditation leader and a holistic health coach.  Now Tessa likes to think of herself as working in preventative care, helping individuals or corporations implement meaningful health and wellness goals.
