Dear Montgomery Families,
I would like to invite everyone to a community ski day at Bear Creek on Saturday, February 11th! This is not a school sponsored event; participation is completely voluntary and is open to all who wish to spend the day together at Bear Creek.
We selected Bear Creek for the convenience of the location and the variety of activities offered. First-time skiers/snowboarders, experienced skiers/snowboarders, and students or parents and guardians interested in alternatives to the slopes are all welcome to join in the fun! The resort offers tubing, a comfortable lodge, and even a spa option! Details are as follows:
Location
Bear Creek
101 Doe Mountain Lane
Lehigh Valley, PA 18062
Times
8:00 AM - Meet at Lodge
8:30 AM - Hit the slopes with friends and family!
11:00 AM - Lunch and Group Photo in the Lodge
Departure time is up to each family
Transportation & Tickets
Each family will need to purchase their own tickets and arrange for transportation. If your child would like to participate and does not have transportation, please contact me and we will work out a solution.
We suggest that you buy tickets in advance. Lessons and rental equipment are available for all participants. If you plan to go tubing, Bear Creek staff suggests that you buy tickets in advance because the tubing sessions fill up on weekends. Also, you can buy lift tickets at your local Buckmans.
Chaperones & Volunteers
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervision of the students in their care.
It would be great to have a few parents/caretakers who aren't skiing to volunteer to stay at our meeting space in the lodge. This way we can have a central meeting point throughout the day. Please let me know if you’re interested in helping to volunteer.
Keep in mind, groups can go out and ski with their friends or family. We do not necessarily all go out together on the same slopes throughout the day. I will help connect students together if they need a group to ski with, but for the most part students should connect to make plans with each other prior to the event. The mountain is small so our students can see each other frequently and mix and match activities and groups. I will be snowboarding and will go out with any students who do not have a group to go with.
Please fill out this form if you are planning to join the fun, and to let me know if you are willing to volunteer to stay in the lodge on Saturday, February 11th.
On a separate note, Bear Creek offers several opportunities to purchase group tickets during school holidays, such as January 2, 3, and February 17. If you are interested in helping to get a group together for these dates, please contact Kelly Stewart P’25 ‘26.
Best,
Allen Vandegrift
