Schoolhouse News "Let Nature be your teacher." - William Wordsworth
Teachers and students took advantage of the beautiful fall weather last week by heading outside! From individual journaling to working together, Montgomery students deepened their connection with themselves, each other, and the great outdoors! A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MAROTTA I hope this note finds you all enjoying some healthy early days of fall. It’s been a wonderful September on campus with our students!
Outdoor Learning We love our 60 acres that we access regularly for our outdoor learning! Art is definitely taking to the outdoors on these awesome fall days. Not only is it a great way to stay healthy, but the fresh air keeps our brains active and engaged for great learning fun. Chapel Reminders Attending Chapel this year for parents is still a possibility! Check the schedule here and on the top page of the Parent Portal on our website. When your child’s grade is attending (as noted on each date of the Chapel schedule), you too may come to Bell Hall to watch Chapel in person. Otherwise, the recorded links will be available for your viewing pleasure at home. When students don’t watch the recording live in Bell Hall, they still watch as a class at some point during the school day. Ask your Lower School student about Chapel on Wednesdays and Fridays for good dinner table conversation! Don’t forget to mark your calendar when your child’s class is delivering their chapel message. You definitely want to attend in person on this special day when your student takes the stage!
Parents’ Night Takeaways It was wonderful to so many parents on campus on Thursday for our rescheduled Parents’ Night. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we tried to keep everyone safe at home last week. One of the takeaways that I heard over and over was Communication. Teachers will communicate with you all year, sometimes by class, sometimes individually about your child. Don’t forget to respond when a teacher sends an email about your child so the teacher knows you read their email. Reach out with good news, questions or concerns. We like hearing from you! We value your thoughts and sharing situations that may be impacting your child at school are helpful for us to know. If it seems important, please drop us a line so we can always be a source of support.
Conferences via Zoom Don’t forget you can sign up for times with your child’s classroom teacher as well as your child’s special area teachers to hear about your child from all the different teachers in his/her daily experience. Parents loved attending conferences via Zoom last year so that there is no need to leave your workspace to meet with your child’s teacher. We will send out Zoom links early next week. Conference days take place October 7 and 8. Reminder that school is not in session on these dates as well as October 11 for a professional learning day for teachers. Click here to schedule conferences.
We value our special connections with each of you are are looking forward to a great year! UPDATES AND REMINDERS Register for Parent Conferences All conferences will be held on October 7th and 8th via Zoom. The online scheduling system closes on Wednesday, October 6th at 3:00 PM.
