Dear Middle School Families,
Please read this email in its entirety.
This communication provides detailed information about the opportunities available to your Middle School student in our Afternoons program this winter. Director of Campus Operations and Student Activities, Carolyn Blair and Musical Director, Jeff Ormsby have outlined below the programs that Montgomery will offer this winter season. If your child is interested in participating in basketball for the winter, please read Mrs. Blair’s description below about when practice will begin and equipment needed. If your child is interested in participating in the musical production, please read Mr. Ormsby’s description of this year’s musical, the audition process, the rehearsal schedule, and needs for students to help behind the scenes.
Winter Athletic Season
Middle School students are required to play one sport each year, but they are encouraged to play all three seasons. During the winter season we will offer both Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball. The official season starts on Monday, November 14 and will continue through Thursday, February 23. Students are expected to participate in practice on the first day of the season (November 14) and will need to bring to school their Montgomery practice clothes and a sturdy pair of sneakers. Basketball sneakers are recommended but not required.
The schedules for the basketball season are complete and available on our website under Quicklinks - Athletics schedule. You can also subscribe to the iCal feed for either of these teams which will feed the most current schedule information to your calendar. Please note that we sometimes make changes to the schedule, so if you do not subscribe to the iCal feed, please plan to revisit the website for updates periodically throughout the season. In the event of a game change, Carolyn will update the website calendar, notify the students, and send an email to Middle School parents. The school’s receptionist, Patty Kirkner, will also always have information on game changes due to weather by 1:30 pm on the day of the game, so you may call her directly (610-827-7222). Students may use a Montgomery telephone line to call parents and let them know of any schedule changes that day. Please contact Carolyn Blair with any questions or concerns about our athletics program.

Montgomery School Presents BEAUTY AND THE BEAST JR!
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Directed by Jeff Ormsby
Performances will be Thursday, March 9, Friday, March 10 & Saturday, March 11 at 7:00pm. All performances will be held in Bell Hall.
The Audition Process:
All participants must attend the first rehearsal on Monday, November 14. From then on, students will spend the next two weeks playing and learning several different roles, songs, and choreography. Final auditions will take place early December. Once the official cast list is posted students will focus on their assigned role only.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Blair for athletics and Mr. Ormsby for musical.
