Dear Middle School Families,

Giving back and volunteering to help others is powerful, especially when you are doing it with family and friends in your local community. I am writing to share two service opportunities that have recently been brought to us from neighbors of the Montgomery community. We hope that many of our students will be able to participate in these initiatives!

The first is short notice, but is a great opportunity if you are looking for a weekend activity. The West Pikeland township is in need of volunteers to help mulch areas of Pine Creek Park this Sunday, November 20th, starting at 1:00 PM. The park is located at 1488 Yellow Springs Road in Chester Springs.

The second initiative is with Historic Yellow Springs for their annual Holiday Stroll event! The Parks and Recreation Association is excited to provide these types of opportunities and events for students in the community. During the event, they are looking for six to eight middle school student volunteers to help with games for younger children, which will take place in the art studio building. The Holiday Stroll is on December 9th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. For more information and details, please visit the Historic Yellow Springs website.

Please let me know if your student is interested in volunteering for either of these events at your earliest convenience.

We are grateful for our relationships with these organizations and look forward to continuing to strengthen them through these types of initiatives.

With appreciation,

Allen Vandegrift
