| Teen Wellness
Last Wednesday, parents tuned in to a webinar about teen wellness, hosted by Tessa Jenkins, RN, BSN, RYT500, Certified Health Coach and parent of Sloan '26. Tessa educated parents about the importance of a whole body wellness approach that moves beyond diet and exercise. She explained that there are a variety of factors that contribute to physical and mental health wellness, such as sleep habits, stress levels, social interactions and so much more. Tessa then spoke to our Middle School students and shared important coping strategies. On behalf of the Montgomery community, we'd like to thank Tessa for sharing her time and expertise with us!

A MESSAGE FROM MR. MCMANUS |
|
|
As I write this on Friday afternoon, our middle schoolers are “Decking the Halls” by decorating doors, windows and sidewalks. Candy Canes and hot chocolate are also in evidence! There is nothing cooler than watching the younger students emerge from class to find their campus transformed by their heroes in the upper grades. It’s another reminder that a special season is upon us.
Today was also our first of three special December Holiday Chapels. It was a joy to honor the Chanukah observances that are currently taking place in Monty family homes and synagogues. I hope you’ll get a few minutes to enjoy Mrs. Clay’s class’s “mixed-up Chanukah” presentation
. It’s really funny and also brings home an important message: we can celebrate with one another and represent the highest values of our own cultural identities.
Montgomery School is an inclusive community that is welcoming to all. In large and small ways, we see this in action every day. As an unbreakable thread in our fabric, it is important and central to who we are, and we continually seek to grow and learn about one another and ourselves. You’ve probably noted the “Cultural Enrichment Vision” in the beginning of our family handbook:
Montgomery School is committed to providing a culturally enriching environment that nurtures and celebrates the unique qualities and talents of each student while emphasizing respect, integrity, and inclusivity. The School believes that the community and its curriculum should reflect our multicultural and diverse world providing us the opportunity to teach awareness, sensitivity, and the skill of appreciating differences. The School is dedicated to an open community where differences are welcome.
We are always growing and the work of welcoming and understanding one another is never done. I am proud of the way we continue to learn together as a school and--at this time of year--how we celebrate with and for one another. I am looking forward to next week’s Kwanzaa chapel, presented by Mrs. Bala’s 4th grade class. Before we leave for winter break, we’ll host our traditional Christmas chapel featuring a special presentation by the 8th grade. In between, we’ll gather for the holiday concert on Tuesday, December 14th as well. A big thank you to Mr. Chittick, Mrs. Oh, and all the teacher leaders who help our students share and learn in this season of celebration!

We welcome any holiday accessories the students would like to wear (such as Santa Hats, a dreidel fun accessory, or a Kwanzaa colored scarf, etc).
