September 12, 2023
Dear Montgomery School Families,
Thanks for your patience, flexibility, and understanding regarding school today. We have remained in close contact with law enforcement and have been tracking developments throughout the day.
At this time, we anticipate returning to school on a regular schedule tomorrow with additional precautions and security in place. This decision is based on information shared by the state and township police regarding the disposition of the search and its location relative to our campus. If those factors change between now and tomorrow, we’ll re-evaluate and notify you promptly. We also trust each family to make the appropriate decision about school attendance based on your personal situation and needs.
Tomorrow, students can once again anticipate a strong presence from the West Pikeland Township Police throughout the day. In addition, we are taking the following internal precautions:
-
Larger Recess will take place indoors
- Outdoor activities, including sports, will be limited to the area within the circle and academic buildings
- The Middle School playdate originally scheduled for tomorrow is postponed
- Student Portraits will be rescheduled for a later date
A special note to our families in Owen J. Roberts School District - as of this writing, we don’t know what the school district’s decision will be on opening tomorrow. Please stay tuned to their messages for information about busing. If the district is closed and you feel it is safe and desirable to come to school, we look forward to seeing you in the car line.
I know this has been quite an unusual day for all of us. Words fail to convey my deep appreciation to our law enforcement community and to each of you for your adaptability and focus on everyone’s well-being. We look forward to being together tomorrow.
Warmly,
Tom McManus
Head of School
