Dear Middle School Families,
We hope this letter finds you well. At Montgomery School, we are committed to providing opportunities for our students to grow individually and give back to the community. Fostering a sense of service and love for positively impacting others is important to us. In connection to our advisory themes and goals of community, character, and leadership, we are excited to introduce an opportunity for our middle school students to give back and make a positive impact on our Montgomery Community.
We have created a program where middle school students can support our Afternoons Program by helping supervise lower school students on Fridays. Our goal is to support the Afternoons Program, and more importantly reinforce the notion that our middle school students are the leaders of our community.
Our middle school students will have the chance to serve as positive role models for their younger peers while helping the Afternoons Program run smoothly. By participating in this program, your child will not only give back to our Montgomery Community but also continue to develop important leadership skills that will benefit them throughout their lives here and beyond Monty.
This opportunity will take place on Fridays from 3:00 PM to 5:15 PM. We are asking that students commit to volunteering for a month at a time or even longer if they wish. This commitment will allow for deeper connections to be formed with lower school students, and allow our students to grow into the role. To prepare our middle school students for the time they will spend with the younger students after school, Kelly Kunsch and I will run through a training session that will teach them about their role.
If you think your child will be interested in this role, we encourage you to discuss this opportunity with them and how it will impact the Afternoons Program. Please fill out this interest form by Friday, November 10th.
