Dear Montgomery Families,
In preparation for our annual Greek and Roman games, I spoke to our students during this week's Chapels about the importance of good sportsmanship and would like to ask for your support in reinforcing this message with your children. The involvement of our students in activities such as Greek and Roman Games contribute to the development of their values system. Trustworthiness, citizenship, caring, fairness and respect are lifetime values that are taught through this experience and are principles of good sportsmanship and character. With these principles, the spirit of competition thrives, fueled by honest rivalry, courteous relations and grateful acceptance of the results.
I shared the following reminders and expectations with our students:
- Greek and Roman Games are about celebrating tradition and having fun.
-
Make your cheers supportive and not derogatory to other players or spectators.
- Be a positive role model through your own actions. Be kind, help each other. Cheer on your friends and teammates and congratulate the winners.
We have made a commitment to promote good sportsmanship by students, coaches and spectators at all of our athletic events. We appreciate your support and assistance as we encourage the practice of good character, respect for self, and respect for others within the context of Greek and Roman games.
As a reminder, parents and family members are invited to attend the games. There will be a picnic after the games in the Dining Room. Please continue reading below for more important reminders and details about our Greek and Roman Day of Giving.
Best regards,
Chris Ruck
