Schoolhouse News Weekly Spotlight
Earlier this week fourth grade students packed TEN trash-sized bags of candy they collected for our troops. They also wrote letters to soldiers overseas to thank our servicemen and women on Veterans Day. Plus, our first grade students shared a video message with some very special Veterans in their lives. We couldn't be more proud of our students! A MESSAGE FROM DR. CONROY Conversations about community and connection continue to be woven into the daily lives of our students. In a number of Lower School counseling lessons we have recently talked about the importance of community. We have discussed the special qualities we all bring to our classroom community and how together we can create something special. In 3rd grade, for example, we discussed what a connected classroom community looks like and feels like. Students mentioned things such as respect, support, and care for one another! Fourth grade is currently finishing up their own unique tessellation shape that includes important information about who they are as people and what they value. These will then be displayed in their classrooms to visually represent how they bring their own individuality to the community and use that to connect with one another in meaningful ways. In Middle School, students continue to connect and forge bonds with their advisor and fellow advisees through advisory circles, which is a time for students to talk in a small group setting about a predetermined topic for the day. Additionally, we have been grateful to have outdoor educational specialist, Wendy Furry, join our students during their advisory time to enhance the advisory / class bond. This takes place in students’ outdoor learning spaces and has a particular area of focus for each grade. The areas of focus include such things as connection, responsibility, resiliency, mindfulness, leadership, and for our 8th graders - legacy. As the year progresses, we remember and practice our commitment to connect with one another and support those connections amongst our school community, as well! “Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued.” - Brene Brown
UPDATES AND REMINDERS Weekly Chapels We make every effort to share Chapel recordings on the same day they are presented. This week we experienced some technical difficulties which caused a slight delay. Please click below for Friday's Chapel, presented by Mrs. Kelly's 5th Grade Class. Our Chapel videos can also be found on our YouTube channel any time. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Middle School Student and Parent Attendance Starting this week, all middle school students will attend chapels that are led by middle school advisors and 8th grade students. Parents should continue to follow the Chapel schedule for the dates they are invited to attend, based on their student's grade.
For example, based on the below entry, parents of 6th grade students are invited to attend Ms. Messer's Chapel on November 30th. November 30 - Ms. Messer - 6th Grade

Masks work best when everyone wears them, but not all masks provide the same protection. When choosing a mask, look at how well it fits, how well it filters the air, and how many layers it has.
The CDC outlined five criteria:
Pick a mask that fits closely over the nose and mouth and down to the chin with adjustable ear loops and/or an adjustable nose piece. A snug fit is key to having a protective mask.
Experts agree that face masks do not replace or relieve the need to wash your hands and social distance. They do not alone prevent the spread of COVID-19. Join Us for #GivingTuesday! MSCA & COMMUNITY NEWS Unite for Her We are pleased to share that our community raised $368.35 for Unite for Her during Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 22nd. Thank you to all who contributed!
