Dear Montgomery Families,

We look forward to seeing everyone on Welcoming Day, Thursday, September 1st! Attendance on Welcoming Day often ensures a more comfortable first day of school for students. Please feel free to bring any school supplies that you would like to drop off at your new classroom. Students are not required to wear their uniforms for this event.

There are several specific programs for different groups of students noted below, so please review this schedule carefully. The Welcoming Day Schedule is also posted on our website under "Quicklinks." Please also view and/or print the campus map to help you get around campus. 

ARRIVAL TIMES

Middle School New Family Registration: 10:15 AM
(New Middle School Families and New & Returning 6th Grade Families)
Please check in with Mr. Toomey and Mrs. Sillup at the registration table outside the Dining Room. After registering, students will meet with their advisors and parents will gather in the Bennett Hill Library to meet with Mr. Vandegrift and Dr. Conroy. The meeting will start promptly at 10:30am, so be sure to grab a seat in time!

Lower School New Family Registration: 10:30 AM
(New Lower School Families in grades PreK through 5)
All new Lower School families should check in with Mr. Toomey and Mrs. Sillup at the registration table outside the Dining Room. You will have the opportunity to see classrooms and get to know the campus before returning families arrive at 11:00am, at which time students will go to their classrooms to meet their teachers with all of their classmates. Please be sure to collect your family’s folder with important information from your youngest child’s classroom.

Returning Families Arrival: 11:00 AM
Returning families do not need to check in at the registration table. You may report directly to your child's classroom. If you need help locating classrooms, please feel free to ask any of our teachers or administrators for assistance. 

PROGRAM TIMES

Middle School New Family Orientation: 10:30 AM
(New Middle School Families and New & Returning 6th Grade Families)
Parents will gather in the Bennett Hill LIbrary to meet with Allen Vandegrift, Head of Middle School, and Taryn Conroy, School Counselor and Director of Student Activities. Students will meet with their advisors during this time. 

Middle School Families Meet the Teachers: 11:00 AM
(All 6th-8th Grade Families)
All Middle School families, new and returning, will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet teachers and advisors. All 7th and 8th grade students should check in at the gym for locker assignments. 

Lower School Families Meet the Teachers: 11:00 AM
(PreK through 5th)
All Lower School students, new and returning, will go to their primary classrooms to meet their classmates and teacher for activities with their class until 11:30 am. During this time, parents will have the opportunity to visit The Rack and stations in Bell Hall, including the MSCA, School Nurse, Afternoons Program, Development, and Admissions.

Lower School Families are invited to visit all other teachers and classrooms from 11:30 AM - Noon.

8th Grade Student Meeting: 12:00 - 12:15 PM
All 8th Grade Middle School students, will meet in Gresh 206 classroom with Mr. Vandegrift and the 8th Grade Parent Reps to talk about leadership opportunities for the upcoming school year. 

Family Picnic: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
All New & Returning Families
At 11:30am, Lower School parents will pick up their children from their classrooms and the buffet line will open for all families in the Dining Room. This will be an all-school picnic-style lunch outside on the campus green. Feel free to bring a chair, towel or blanket, and enjoy some good food with friends old and new.

As a reminder, the first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th. We can't wait to see everyone back on campus!
