November 10, 2023
Dear Middle School Families,
Wow! We are almost halfway through November… We have settled in nicely to the school year, our 8th graders just finished the ISEE process and are in the last stretch of the secondary school process. The Winter Season begins next week, our 6th graders recently spent time cleaning up campus in the light of giving back to our community, and our 7th grade students are planning their first social. The list goes on, and I couldn’t be more excited for all that has been accomplished this year and all that's to come.
As we progress through the year, we are continuing to focus on character, leadership, and community through advisory lessons, community activities, and discussions through the various venues of our school. Our Student Government planned an intramurals type program, that we are calling “House Games”, where students are in mixed grade groups competing in games centered around teamwork and community. We know middle school students need to be active and provided with situations where they can work together, and the students loved the first House Games competition. We are proud of our 8th grade students for taking the lead on the creation of this program for our middle school.
Next week, we are going to be engaging in Kindness Week. Our goal is always to be kind, in connection to our three advisory themes, and we feel it is important to dedicate a week centered around kindness. Student Government introduced the themes and activities of the week, and throughout next week we will be engaging in the following activities:
Students will write appreciation letters to influential teachers and faculty members throughout our campus, and design posters to show our thanks to those who create such a wonderful program for us. These cards and posters will be hand delivered to Montgomery faculty by our students
- Students will create cards for Chester County Food Bank in connection to our food drive
There will be kindness challenges throughout the week
- On Friday, students will wear their Be Kind shirts for a dress down day to come together as one promoting the importance of being kind
The Be Kind shirts are being delivered next week, and students will receive them to be worn on Friday. These shirts will also double as our House Games’ shirts. Each team for the House Games has a team color, so students will be asked to wear the shirts on competition days.
Food Drive Update:
We have one more week for our Food Drive for the Chester County Food Bank. Mr. Kulkarni has organized the food drive, and our students will help organize and deliver the food. Here is his original email. Thank you to those who have already donated food and goods for the drive, and we have one more week to come together to support our local community during this special time of the year. Our efforts will make an impact on those in need, and we hope that you will spend time with children discussing the act of serving others in this way.
Student IDs and Planners:
Our students have come a long way with having their student IDs and planners. Please continue to support your children with these two items when they are getting organized for the school day.
