Dear Third Through Seventh Grade Montgomery Parents,
Between Monday, January 30, and Friday, February 3, the third through seventh grade students will be taking the CTP 5 standardized tests. Please remember to keep the week as stress-free as possible. Enjoy more family time as this is a “no homework week” for these grades. What can you do at home to make the testing experience positive for your child?
- Make sure your child is getting a good night’s sleep and provide a healthy breakfast.
- If you normally allow electronics in the bedroom at night, this would be a good week to give that practice a break.
-
Please also refrain from making any appointments during the morning hours of testing week so your child will not have to make up the testing at another time.
- If your child is ill during the week, it’s ok! Please keep them home. We will contact you to schedule a time to make up the tests.
It is important to note that the CTP5 is a norm referenced test, not a criterion referenced test, so results do not necessarily reflect a student's knowledge in one content area. Also, please keep in mind that these tests are one piece of information about your child, and they do not take into account hard work, perseverance, a bad day, etc. They are a measure of your child on a single moment in a day and do not completely define who your child is as a student. We will send parents results of the testing when they are sent back to us from the testing center.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact one of us.
Warmly,
Susan Marotta, Head of Lower School
Allen Vandegrift, Head of Middle School
