Social Studies

Lower School

Our prekindergarten through grade eight social studies curriculum is an intentionally designed, spiralling curriculum, where each year builds on the year before in both content and in skills. Geography/relevant map skills as well as grade appropriate current events occur at all grade levels. The curriculum begins in prekindergarten and kindergarten with the children discussing themselves, their physical characteristics, their home and school surroundings, and the people in their lives. Important holidays are studied and beginning map skills are introduced.
