Montgomery School will celebrate its Centennial on May 21, 2016 with a school-wide celebration which will include alumni, current and past parents and current and former faculty members. Montgomery School was founded in 1915, with the first graduation class in the spring of 1916. The school has commemorated its Centennial throughout the school year, hosting guest speakers, special gatherings, and a "surprise birthday party" for all of the current students. The year will culminate in a special celebration on Saturday, May 21st that will include campus tours, a special Centennial Chapel and Reception, and the evening will finish with fireworks. Montgomery alumni, past parents, and past faculty will travel from near and far to participate in this special event.

In 1915, the Reverend Gibson Bell founded Montgomery School as a boy's preparatory school from the first through twelfth grades. The School was located on Montgomery Avenue in Wynnewood, from which it took its name. In 1943 the school was re-established as a co-educational elementary and middle school. In the summer of 1988, Montgomery School moved to Chester Springs. Built on the Beachwood Farm, Montgomery School continues to thrive as a PreK through eighth grade, coeducational independent school. Montgomery still focuses on educating children in mind, body, and character, just as it did in its founding year - 1915. Montgomery School was founded on solid principles which are still relevant today, as it prepares students for the 21st Century and beyond.

Montgomery School's emphasis on character is woven into the PreK through 8th grade curriculum, and the school's 60 acre campus encourages outdoor educational experiences. Students are encouraged to give back through service learning projects, culminating in the make.a.difference project in 8th grade where students complete an in-depth study by writing a research paper and giving a presentation on a person or organization that has made a difference in the world. As part of that project, students volunteer for their chosen organization. Public speaking skills are developed at every grade level through the Chapel program and in class presentations. Montgomery's program emphasizes athletics, arts, and strong academics. Montgomery's yearlong Centennial Celebration acknowledges the indomitable spirit of a community dedicated to children. Montgomery School's students are inspired to explore and prepared to succeed.
