The Montgomery School uniform is part of School Policy. Occasional exceptions occur, such as "Drop the Dress Code" days. Students will be notified when these exceptions apply. In all cases of student dress, the principle of neat and clean will apply.

New for the 2008-2009 school year: The fall/spring uniform is worn from the start of school until Thanksgiving break. The winter uniform is then worn from the Monday following Thanksgiving Break until Spring Break. Following Spring Break students once again wear the fall/spring uniform.

Uniforms can be purchased from Flynn and O'Hara, (800-441-4122, www.flynnohara.com), and some parts of the uniform may be purchased through Lands' End (800-469-222 or www.landsend.com/school), as noted in the handbook.

Prekindergarten: 

A uniform is not required for our Prekindergarten students.  Children should dress in comfortable clothing that will encounter paint, play dough, outdoor play, etc.  Footwear must be sturdy shoes or tennis shoes.  Flip-flops or sandals are not appropriate footwear.
Boys:

Fall and Spring:
Navy or khaki plain twill pants or shorts  (Cargo pants/shorts are not acceptable)White polo shirt or a white turtleneck must accompany the pants or shorts. Only a maroon cardigan or Montgomery maroon fleece, purchased through Flynn and O’Hara, will be acceptable attire in the classroom.  Footwear must be white socks and dark brown or black shoes with a closed back. 

Winter: (Begins after Thanksgiving Break)
Navy or khaki plain twill pants  (Cargo pants are not acceptable)White polo shirt or white turtleneck must accompany the pants. Girls

Gray Cord School Kilt  (Purchased through Flynn and O’Hara)Kilt should be no shorter than two inches above the knee. White polo shirt or blouse must accompany the kilt.  Shirt must be long enough to be tucked in. Only maroon crewneck or V-neck sweater or Montgomery fleece, purchased through Flynn and O’Hara, will be acceptable attire in the classroom. Short white socks are worn with the gray kilt.  Footwear must be flat-heeled dark brown and black with a closed back. 

OR:
Khaki double-paneled SKORT from Flynn and O’Hara. White polo shirt with the Montgomery School monogram must accompany the SKORT.  Shirt must be long enough to be tucked in. Short white socks are worn with the SKORT.  Footwear must be flat-heeled dark brown or black shoe with a closed back. 

Winter:
Maroon Plaid Kilt  (Purchased through Flynn and O’Hara)
Kilt should be no shorter than two inches above the knee. White blouse or turtleneck must accompany the kilt.  Shirt must be long enough to be tucked in. Only maroon cardigan or Montgomery maroon fleece, purchased through Flynn and O’Hara, will be acceptable attire in the classroom. Maroon or white knee socks or maroon, gray or white tights are worn with the plaid kilt. Footwear must be flat-heeled dark brown or black with a closed back.

Khaki pants purchased from Flynn and O’Hara or Lands’ End may also be worn during the winter season. A white polo shirt or white turtleneck must accompany the pants. White socks are worn with the khaki pants. Footwear must be flat-heeled, dark brown or black with a closed back.

The shirt must be long enough to be tucked in at all times. Plain black or brown belt must be worn. Footwear must be white socks and dark brown and black shoes with a closed back. (Cargo and corduroy pants are not acceptable).    

Athletic Uniform

Lower School
Kindergarten – Grade 3
Kindergarten – Grade 3 students wear their Montgomery School uniform for physical education classes.  Girls may wear School shorts under their uniform.  Sneakers must be worn for physical education classes. Sneakers must be worn or physical education classes.

Grades Four and Five
Students in Grades Four and Five wear Montgomery maroon or white shorts with the gray Montgomery T-shirt or the Montgomery sweat suit, athletic socks, and athletic shoes (no slips ons or Merrills) for physical education classes. 

Middle School
All Middle School students wear Montgomery shorts with the Montgomery T-shirt or the Montgomery sweat suit for physical education classes and athletic practices. These items can be purchased through the Athletic Department located in the gym. Team uniforms are issued for games.
